This is probably one of my favorite rooms I’ve posted in a while. I just never tire of clean, Scandinavian interiors – and those lamps are gorgeous. I’ve been missing the ocean lately, and there is something really special about these two bodies of water that meet, but don’t mix (in the Gulf of Alaska). You can read a bit more about the science behind it if you follow the link below. Happy Monday!

Bed. That’s pretty much where I’ve wanted to be all weekend. We just got a new mattress (HEAVEN) – my poor old crippled back and sad shoulders (wah, wah) have been thanking me for finally caving/making that purchase. Wouldn’t mind relaxing in that bedroom above – can I have that chair please? And that view — yes. There was one foggy, wonderful day earlier this week, and it just made me so ready for fall. I even got to fall asleep to the sound of rain the other night! Bring on the cool weather, universe. It’s sweater buying time.

Hey there! It’s nice to finally be back! Well…we moved over the past weekend, are are now living in West Seattle – we LOVE it over here. It has a small town, beachy feel…and there are tons of great little shops, bakeries and restaurants in walking distance. Settling in happened really naturally and easily, which is always pleasant. I’ve loved every second of decorating the new place – it actually looks really similar to the style of the photo above (although we don’t have a a beautifully battered Chesterfield)…lots of black and white with touches of green, and shades of blue for a really tranquil feel. I’m so happy to have white walls again; everything feels more open and clean.
The view here is of Monomy Shoals in Massachusetts – it was taken from a biplane – aren’t the colors and natural patterns in the water exquisite?
I just wanted to mention a couple little things changing on the blog too; I’ve had some time to think during my break, and I want to reconfigure things around here to keep this blog manageable and true to who I am. So from now on, ‘On the Table’ will still be around, but it isn’t going to be a weekly feature anymore. With the TMJ, it’s been tough to try and create meals that aren’t all mush, because I really can’t eat them. So that will be a more sporadic column, along with my ‘Musings’ feature. I always want to make sure those posts are coming from the heart, and I feel that I’ve done a really good job of that thus far. I don’t want ‘Musings’ to ever become forced when I’m not having a very insightful week.
You know, I’ve never been really good at sticking to routines when it comes to blogging, which I’m sheepish to admit. I like to blog in a more organic way, as inspiration hits…which is usually in ebbs and flows as most things in life are. Instead of trying to fight it, I think I’ll work with it – why not?
I hope you guys are cool with the changes to come. I’m excited to get back into the swing of things and share some inspiration! I’ve got some more awesome people coming up for ‘Objets de Valeur’, so stay tuned! And thanks again for hanging in there while I took some time off. :)

I’ve gotta major crush on that jade colored wall. Add a mountain/lake scene in, and boom! — perfection.

Utah is a state I’ve always wanted to visit. It’s rugged landscape looks so beautiful, and the Great Salt Lake (which is sometimes pink!) is just stunning. This room is pretty incredible too…the beams and windows are so, so good.

Ahh, how I love the cliffs of Scotland and Ireland (this view happens to be in Scotland). I hope to visit both countries someday soon. They look so serene and beautiful. This room is just magnificent; airy spaces — especially when painted white — seem like they would be so inspiring to set up shop/home in.

You’ve probably picked up on the fact that I LOVE green and white paired together. There’s a lot of that going on in our apartment – it feels so fresh and effervescent to me. This gorgeous room is from Market Lane coffee shop in Melbourne (a city that I absolutely MUST visit…I hear it’s the San Francisco of Australia, so of course I’m game). I’ve had major crush on those chairs, and I plan on snapping up some of them once we finally DIY this table for the kitchen. The lush green of the trees was a no-brainer to pair with this room. I never get sick of the emerald views here in Seattle.

The architecture in this kitchen is basically my dream. Only changes I’d make would be: all white brick walls and sleeker/more modern glossy white cabinets with brass hardware + bamboo counter tops. I’m an idealist, what can I say?! I love the view so much; I’m assuming it’s somewhere in Thailand. Being on the water is a requirement for my dream home.

This is basically a fantasy bathroom scenario – what could be more spa-like than a white indoor/outdoor bathroom that looks out onto a verdant scene, complete with a waterfall? Nothing, that’s what. What a total dream!

I found these marble caverns in Patagonia, Chile to be completely awe-inspiring. With crystal clear waters surrounding them, and the time-worn, natural shapes of the caves, it’s just a real sight to behold. Truly art in nature. The concrete wall in the above room is so reminiscent of the texture on the caverns, that I like to imagine this room is actually hidden within the walls.
